Bios for A Hand of Talons

Darren Canady, Playwright

Darren Canady's work has been seen at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center, the Alliance Theatre, Horizon Theatre, Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the Fremont Centre Theatre, Congo Square Theatre, the BE Company, American Blues Theater, KC Rep, and Kansas City's Barn Theater. Darren is an alum of Carnegie Mellon University, New York University, and the Juilliard School. He is a former member of Primary Stages' Dorothy Strelsin New Writers Group, the T.S. Eliot US/UK Exchange, and the America-In-Play theatre collective. He currently teaches playwriting at the University of Kansas.


Kuan Foo, Playwright

Kuan Foo was born in England and still retains an air of awkward introversion. For the last 14 years, he has been a writer/performer with the Asian-Canadian comedy troupe, Assaulted Fish. His play "Self-ish" recently debuted at the 2017 Toronto Fringe Festival. He lives in Vancouver, Canada.


Greg Lam, Playwright

Greg Lam is a playwright, screenwriter, and board game designer who lives in the Boston area. Greg was a member of the 2016 Company One Playlab for the development of Boston area playwrights. His plays are scheduled to be read at Fresh Ink Theatre, Pork Filled Players, and The Depot.


Lamar Legend, Playwright

Lamar Legend is a native New Yorker and began his theatrical training at The High School for the Performing Arts (The "Fame" School/LAG Arts) as an actor. He tuned his dancing technique at The Alvin Ailey Dance School. But it wasn't until he moved to Chicago that he married his love of Shakespeare with Physical Theatre under the title of Director. Since then, Lamar has written and adapted seven plays, produced, directed, and starred in over forty theatrical works in four US cities, as well as abroad in Tuscany, Rome, Milan, Prague, and Mexico. He's performed at The MET, The Steppenwolf Theater, The Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Teatro Franco Parenti, and was honored with The Rising Star Award by The League of American Theaters & Producers. 


Roger Tang, Playwright/
Producer

Roger Tang takes off the producer hat for Unleashed and dons his author hat.  As a playwright, he's written The Jade Con, Shadowed Intent, Truth and Lies, Third Generation Heritage and Mac n Dex. He has worked with Seattle's 14/18 Festival, penned numerous sketches for the Pork Filled Players and several pieces for SIS Productions' Revealedseries of site-specific theatre work.


Celeste Williams, Playwright

Celeste Mari Williams is a Seattle playwright who has written for SIS Productions as part of Revealed, Insatiable, and LAAFF Fest.  She is also a member of Parley, which has produced workshops of her plays Amelia's Wall, A Fine Line, and most recently, Best Friend. Celeste is excited to be part of UNLEASHED! 


Seayoung Yim, Playwright

Seayoung Yim is an award-winning playwright who's worked with Annex Theatre, Live Girls! Theatre, Theatre Off Jackson, 14/48 Projects, Theatre Battery, and Mirror Stage. She heartily thanks Pork Filled Productions and director, Sara Porkalob for developing Persimmon Nights, which will also be produced at Café Nordo in July 2018. www.seayoungyim.com


Sonja Lowe, Dramaturg (My Samurai)

Sonja Lowe (Dramaturg) is honored to be collaborating with the creative writers at Pork Filled Productions. Sonja is currently Resident Dramaturg at Taproot Theatre Company and has also contributed research to other Seattle theatres, including Slowgirl (SPT) A Lesson from Aloes (Thalia's Umbrella) and Hedda Gabler (Harlequin Productions).


Daniel Rector, Dramaturg (Dispossessed)

Daniel Rector is delighted to once again be working with PFP on another exciting production of speculative theatre. Previously, he has provided dramaturgical support for the New Providence trilogy by Maggie Lee, and worked with MAP Theatre on their production of The Art of Bad Men by Vincent Delaney.


Kate Swenson, Dramaturg (Dawn of the She-Devil)

Kate Swenson is a writer, director, actor, and educator working throughout the Seattle area. Upcoming projects include the premier of her musical, with the John Allman, The Fluffy Tale of Adventure at SecondStory Repertory and directing The Putnam County Spelling Bee with Youth Theatre NW. A hearty “arrrrr!” to the many fabulous she-devils in her life!


Maggie Lee, Dramaturg/Producer (Persimmon Nights)

Maggie Lee is a Seattle playwright whose work reflects her love of comedy, science fiction, and horror. Her produced plays include The Tumbleweed Zephyr and The Clockwork Professor (Pork Filled Productions), The Echo Maiden (Seattle Public Theater Youth Program), The Journey of the Bell (The 14/48 Projects), The Sunshower Bride and Paper and Ink (Live Girls! Theater), Last Light (Playing in Progress), the Revealed! walking tours (SIS Productions), collaborating on Greetings from Styx and King Arthur and the Knights of the Playground (Balagan Theatre), Kindred Spirits (ReAct Theatre), H.P. Lovecraft adaptations (Open Circle Theater), the Double Shot Theatre Festival, and 14/48. Maggie is also the lead sketch writer and a performer with the Pork Filled Players, Seattle's Asian American sketch comedy group, as well as designing lights, props, and puppets for many local fringe theaters. She was a panelist for Asian American Women in Comedy at the 2011 National Asian American Theater Conference in Los Angeles, and was twice featured at ACT's Local Writers Showcase at the REPRESENT! Multicultural Playwrights' Festival. She is a member of the SIS Writers Group, Rain City Projects, the Sandbox Artists Collective, and was recently an Artist in Residence at Theatre Off Jackson.


May Nguyen, Producer/Director

May Nguyen is a producer with Pork Filled Productions and is also an actor who can be found on stage with the likes of sketch comedy group, Pork Filled Players,Live Girls! Theater, 14/48, SIS Productions, and ReAct Theatre. She has even written plays for the SIS Writers' Group, SIS Productions, Infinity Box Theatre, and Live Girls! Theater. When not on stage, May is a board member with Infinity Box Theatre and can be found behind the scenes as a stage manager and assistant stage manager at Youth Theatre Northwest. Theater is team sport where everyone's time is precious and everyone's skills are valuable. Thank you for playing with us.
