Pork Filled Players

Since 1997, Pork Filled Players have regaled the Pacific Northwest with their sharp sense of humor and acute geek sensibilities — they are, after all, led by a trademarked Star Trek character (Sergeant Tang)! They began as artists in residence at Seattle’s’ Northwest Asian American Theatre, presenting numerous late night shows after NWAAT shows and making regular appearances at the Seattle Fringe Festival.

The Players were among the founding participants of Seattle SketchFest, the nation’s first juried sketch comedy festival (and have been regular performers since then), and have made dozens of appearances at community events, such as the International District Summer Festival, the Seattle Filipino Festival, and Seattle Neighborhood Arts Celebration.

In 2002, the Players began producing independent main stage sketch comedy shows, featuring original new material and a unique brand of Asian American humor. They began reaching out on a regional level by touring traveling shows to colleges such as the University of Washington and Oregon State. They have also participated in Sketch@#?! in Vancouver, BC, the first international Asian American/Canadian sketch comedy competition, and Bumbershoot, Seattle’s premier arts festival.

Founding Pork Filled Players include:

Leilani Berinobis, Eric de los Santos, Wally Glenn, David Kobayashi, Mona Grife Leach, Richard Sloniker, Roger Tang, and Ellen Williams.

Current Pork Filled Players roster:

Brian Beckley, Julie Hoang, Maggie Lee, May Nguyen,  Melissa GlSlaughter, Roger Tang, Brad Walker,  Owen Yen, Yvette Zaepfel
