Pork Filled’s Commitment to Anti-Racist Theatre

Pork-Filled Productions believes that Black Lives Matter and stands in support of Black communities across the country.

Anti-racist theatre is defined as practices and policies which actively acknowledge and interrogate racism, anti-blackness, and other discriminatory practice, promoting anti-racist ideas, values, and policies that counter the oppression of any people during education or production of theatre. Anti-racist theatre is practiced in reciprocity with anti-oppressive values creating space for dismantling a myriad of oppressive constructs such as ableism, gender and sexual orientation discrimination, religious discrimination, sexism, and more.

The arts are meant to reflect the beauty and diversity of the human spirit. We have a responsibility to our fellow community members to eliminate racist practices that have contributed to ongoing oppression in our community.

We will hold ourselves accountable for achieving our goals and for actions that do not support our commitment to do better and be better.

Pork-Filled Productions Land Acknowledgement Statement:
Let us remember that Pork-Filled Productions and the communities we serve are on the land, waterways, and traditional territories of the Coast Salish people. We also want to name the legacies of violence, displacement, migration, and settlement that bring us together here today. They are the original storytellers and theater-makers of this place we call home and honor the historic and present-day stewards of this land who continue to build vibrant communities here today.

Steps We’re Taking:

  • While open and ever-changing, the PFP staff are majority BIPOC and consist of folks of various gender identities.
  • We commit to casting 51% of the roles in our productions with BIPOC actors (including Asian and non-Asian POCs).
  • Our Unleashed program has always included new works written by Black and Latinx writers (four of which have gone on to full productions), with one centering members of the Deaf community.
  • A percentage of the box office is being donated to Real Rent Duwamish. For more information about Real Rent Duwamish, go Here.
